Loci is a latin word meaning places, locations.
The Loci Method calls for a virtual path. This path runs through places you travel to during a day (the Journey Method), or rooms you visit (the Palace Method). You will have to form a sequence of 52 pictures, each being associated to number 1 through 52. Examples of pictures are your home, your work place, the routes you take, the signs on the road, the bus stop, the train station, the buildings you see, the rooms you go into, where you eat, newspaper stands, vending machines, etc.
Once your virtual path is memorized, you will have to associate each card of the stack with each picture you came with.
You can also mix the Peg System with the Loci Method. You can even have more than one path (ex. a different town or a different house). This method is greatly used to memorize a deck of cards on the spot.
As with rote memory, this method allows you to choose any stack to memorize, even your own.
