The Memorized Deck:

Five methods for memorizing a card stack

Your motivation, your will to succeed, the discipline you have, the time you can afford and your skill will determine the time required to learn and master a memorized deck. Some magicians learn a stack in a few hours or less, others take days or weeks, and unfortunately some never succeed.

The memorization method you will opt for will also affect the learning curve you will have to face. This is why it's important to choose a memorization method you are comfortable with.

Fortunately, there are many methods to choose from. We are all different, but there is a method out there that should suits you best .

Here are the five memorization methods mostly used.

Rote Memory

If you are blessed with a good memory, you might want to consider this method.

Peg System

A popular method in which associated words are used to recall stack-numbers and cards.

Rules

This method requires that you learn a small set of rules applicable to a preset stack.

Lyrics

A method using lyrics made of stack-numbers and card names.

Loci Method

With this method you are asked to travel through a virtual path.

I have been selling used magic books since 1994. During these 28 years, I was in contact with great customers, some of which with whom I had warm communications. It has always been a pleasure to supply books to those looking for them.

It’s now time for me to turn the page.
